Evolution of World Soccer Power

The Current FIFA rankings. Dark green represents
high ranked countries and fades into
dark red for the very low ranking countries.
Now that the World Cup is over the articles will be a little less frequent.   This week FIFA released their new rankings.  Germany hit the top and as expected Spain fell hard but kept a top ten spot, and as reported here already England dropped to 20th - which will hurt them when the seedings are announced for the qualifying for the next world cup.  However they do have two years to build up their points again.  We can guess that it will be the July 2015 World Ranking that will decide the seeds.

The International scene will quieten down from now and next week we will hopefully be building up excitement for the main club competitions.

But for now we will leave with a video depicting the evolving powers in world football.  It is based on the rankings of each country over time.  The dark green signifies a very high ranking, while the red signifies a very low ranking.  Shades of green, yellow, orange and red signify rankings in between.

Apologies to Congo DR and South Sudan, the charting software that I use seems to have left them both blank.
