Dunkest Shopping List: Top 10 picks by expected points per game

This article is relevant to the Fantasy Basketball games ran by Dunkest.

So how do you know which players are the best to have on your team?  The answer seems easy.  Dunkest gives the list of all players which is sortable by total points scored for each player.  The points scored so far this season gives a good indication of how the players rank and which players should be on top of your shopping list.

However, there are two problems with this table.

1. Total Points vs Average Points
The dunkest list is sorted by total points.  So this list fails to highlight the value of players like Russel Westbrook and DeMarcus Cousins who have been missing for a good proportion of the season.  What we really need to know is average points per game played.  This then gives us an indication of how many points a player is likely to score, provided he stays fit.

2. Dunkest Schedule
The Dunkest Schedule doesn't include every match.  So by rating player just based on the games they played in Dunkest you are discarding a wealth of information that is just as relevant when assessing a players potential.

So we at fog2014 have computed the Dunkest Points based off all the box scores so far this season and averaged them out to get the definitive Dunkest Shopping list.  Remember, this just gives you a few leads.  From this list it is important to look for value (see this article) and also to check for injuries (for example LeBron will be missing for about 2 weeks due to injury so don't rush out and buy him just now!).
