Bet 20, Get 10. Get Barred!

So you may be following my bets. The bookie's certainly are. 888sport, betway and now Paddy Power have added restrictions on my account.

I have highlighted the Bet 20, get 10 promo before. I have done quite well on it. I have over €2000 profit off PaddyPower - and this promo and another promo on the horses have been the main driving force behind my profits.

 For those of you that are not banned, Paddy Power are offering this promotion on the Live TV games this weekend - Norwich vs Liverpool and Everton vs Swansea.


My tips are below and hopefully it makes some pocket money for you like it has for me, but I give no guarantees. Mathematically the odds are in your favour but its still gambling and you can still lose short term before your free bet winnings start to build up long term.

 1. Place your real money €20 bet on something safe, even split is across a number of safe bets. For example €10 on Draw at 30 mins @8/13 and €10 on Liverpool to be winning at HT or FT @4/6. This will qualify you for your free bet and in the long term you will post a small loss or break even on your real money. From match to match you will be unlucky if at least one of your bets dont win.

 2. This is the money making part. After you qualify for the free bet (check your account) you can place it in play. You will be creditted with two €5 free bets. Now you are looking for something that pays back well, something like 7/1. This way you lose small on you real bets (say about €2 average per game in the long run) but once in every 4 or 5 games you win €35.

 William Hill have something similar for the Australian Open Tennis. I will be using the same strategy there. Skybet have something similar too from time to time for some of the live Football Championship games.

 You won't get rich on this, but it will turn the odds slightly in your favour for those matches. Of course it's still gambling and you can lose small or big before you start winning so play safe and only use spare money.

Dixon Coles Dixon Coles is a method of generating probabilities on football matches.  It is related to Poisson but adds a correlation for low scores.  It seems to be one of the most accurate public methods.  It requires three parameters lambda, mu and rho.  rho describes how related low scores are.  lambda and mu represent the average goals the home and away team are expected to score. This started off as just a personal project.  I got full value from the effort that I put in already.   The effort included a few days coding initially and a day or two here or there to fix and add features, perhaps a full working week but fragmented all over the place.  In total it is now about 150 lines of code.   The reward was learning some javascript, learning about chrome extensions, earning some cred on twitter, and getting to connect with different people.  And of course I am actively using it and can identify potential betting opportunities myself.
